5 toys every 2 weeks
Yes via SETLS using user login. Only an extra 2 weeks on top of the original 2 week loan period is allowed (total of 1 month).
Please CLEAN AND DRY each toy before returning them so the next borrower can loan clean toys. This stops the spread of germs and keeps our toys looking smart and presentable. Making sure your toys are dry before packing them back in the box is just as important as cleaning them.
Plastic Toys
Wash the toy with hot water and a tiny amount of soap or washing detergent. Dry the toy with a cloth or towel.
Alternatively, you can use a tiny amount of vinegar diluted in water or diluted disinfectant. Use this if your child has been ill.
Wooden Toys and Puzzles
Never soak wooden toys as this damages them. Use a damp cloth with the same cleaning solution as above and wipe over the toy or puzzle.
Dress Ups
Most of our costumes can go in the normal wash but please check our label on the bag first.
Blocks, Duplo, Lego, MegaBloks
Place blocks in a bucket with warm soapy water and leave to dry on the clean tea towel. We do not recommend you put blocks in the dishwasher as this can lead to damage and deterioration.
Outdoor Toys
This includes play gyms, slides, rollercoasters, water tables and accessories.
These must be well cleaned, as they can be susceptible to mould. Rinse under a high-pressure hose or wipe down with soapy water.
Please clean and dry each water table and water table accessory carefully.
Ride-ons including Cozy Coupes
Wipe these down with a slightly damp cloth with soapy water or disinfectant.
Baby Toys
Do not immense these in hot water as they can get ruined. Wipe down with hot water and vinegar or disinfectant. Dry thoroughly.
Little People & Licensed Sets (eg Peppa Pig, Octonauts)
Do not immense these in hot water as they can get ruined. Wipe down with hot water and vinegar or disinfectant. Dry thoroughly.
You are responsible for counting pieces of toys BEFORE leaving the Toy Library. If you realise that the toy is incomplete when you get home, please email us on info@mackaytoylibrary.org.au straight away with the toy number and correct details.
We ask that you try and really take care of borrowed toys while you have them on loan for the benefit of the whole Toy Library community. When kids are around though pieces do get lost and toys do get broken from time to time!
There is a minimum $5 per piece replacement fee for any missing pieces (some pieces with greater value are charged at higher prices depending on what it costs to replace them (eg Schleich animals). You may borrow the toy for an additional 1 month period to try and locate any missing pieces. If the toy becomes inoperable due to the missing piece, you will need to replace the toy or pay a negotiated replacement fee.
If a toy breaks due to reasonable wear and tear or because it is in poor condition there is no charge. However, if a toy is broken due to inappropriate use or neglect, including damage by pets, you will be charged the full cost of replacing the toy or you may replace the toy yourself.
Please ensure your pets do not chew on any toys, or you will be charged for their replacement.
We proudly source many of our new toys from local businesses including Mackay’s very own, Let the Children Play. It is important that we provide high quality toys and resources from local businesses we trust.
Yes! Mackay Toy Library happily take donations of clean, unbroken and complete toys. Please let us know what you would like to donate and we will be in touch soon. You may contact us via email or Facebook messenger.
